Clarence A. Mitchell, III, Robb Hunter, Noble Benefield and Dwayne Heard have worked together for several years. They met as co-workers at Inner City Foods, LLC, a Checkers Development Group. Together these four gentlemen helped boost Inner City Foods to the number one Checker's franchisee in the United States.

When an opportunity arose within the Captain D’s Corporation to buy out 20 franchise restaurants in the Memphis area Mitchell thought it was a good idea to invest in the brand. He asked Hunter, Benefield and Heard to accompany him in this endeavor and together they now run the largest and one of the most successful Captain D’s franchises in the nation.
